Altomare is the first mussel farming company in Italy. It is the holder of five State-owned maritime concessions denominated: Fano 1 - Fano 2 - Pesaro - Cattolica - Rimini, for a total of 7,000,000 sqm. The average annual production capacity is 2,500 tons. The company utilises four boats approximately 19 metres in length. The unloading port is Cattolica, on the border between the Emilia Romagna and Marche regions. The product is sold loose and in large net bags or packed with a health label in net bags of 1, 1.5 and 5 kgs. Availability is guaranteed all year round but with greater quantities starting from March until October.

A continuous monitoring of the microbiological parameters and analysis for the presence of any algal bio-toxins are effectuated on the product coming from all five farms. The number of our farms and the distance between them permits us to maintain continuity of supply in the event of a temporary blockage of a single farm due to non-conformity.
